International SAT October 2012: Y U NO discuss?

but why is not that female bats want to have some relation(you know sex or something like that)with male so female perceived colour red?

and i did not choose texture or colour.maybe im wrong totally TAT

This seems like a perfect explanation. I agree with that.

Color of the feathers because the author wanted to make a point about how males attract females (in this case bird of paradise attracts females with his colorful prominent feathers)

@AimingAt750
thx do you know another selections of the question about"bats color"

There was only a question about flamingo’s color? That one was “striking”.

Hey guys, does anyone remember a question where one of the possible answer choices was something along the lines of ‘to illustrate a bigger issue?’ I’m pretty sure the other choices were ‘to reiterate a previous theory’ and ‘to reject a previously stated hypothesis.’ I’m pretty sure this was the passage about bats but it might have been the blues one… The question’s been killing me. Thanks!

can anyone please find the global warming passage? that would clear up some of the questions on this thread

For BLAHBLAH, as for BLAH and BLAH,

(a) history was
(b) each saw history as
(c) they saw history as

Anybody who can recall this writing question, please answer!

@jungjae

its a

Please answer 'fwabbin’s question…
Was the whole answer in the bat passage something like ‘shift the term of discussion to make a larger point?’ or ‘to make a larger point’ a different answer?

to make a larger point. he goes to to reveal human’s instinctual inability to understand bats because they dont have echolocating abilities.

i think to shift the terms of disucssion was in the college athletics question as well

If Fwabbin could give the details of the question/segment of the passage, it would be easier.

I think fwabbin’s question was in college athletics passage,… It was asking the purpose of last paragraph

Hey guys!
There was one line reference question that asks what it portrays about the main character, Yunliang.
What were the choices of question other than “a previous urge to create new things?”
I recall 1) drawing requires less practice than embroidery
2) material for drawing is less expensive than that for embroidery
3) when drawing she can focus more on subject
4) ???

The ability to start over easily, if I recall

@bnjmnkrs
Thank you!
Do you mean a choice that says “easy to remedy mistakes”?

Perhaps. What was the question? Was it the one asking why she preferred drawing to embroidering, or osmething like that?

One question asks “what this line reference portrays about the writer (or Yuinliang).”
Another questions asks the difference between embroidery and painting.

@typsyflek

4th answer choice is she can fix her mistakes easier or she can start over again easier

but the correct answer is 3. focus more on the subject

“One question asks “what this line reference portrays about the writer (or Yuinliang).””

The possible answers to those were different than the ones you posted. They were something like

a) talented but lacking in confidence
b)
c)
etc…

I don’t believe that’s the correct answer miasanmia. Although looking at the passage again I suppose it’s a possibility, what did you guys choose? I don’t see how bringing something to life quickly equates with “focus more on the subject”
