Not sure if there is already a large thread for this, but I am an international student who was recently accepted to two of my top choice schools, Rutgers and UNC Chapel Hill.
However, both schools have given me no aid, and I was wondering if anyone had any large corporate scholarships for Indian American International Students to help me finance my higher education? My next step is to apply to as many of these and see how much money I can possibly get because that is my only option.
Hopefully you have some affordable college options in India. The chances of getting any outside scholarships to support you for four years are minimal.
As an international student you shouldn’t have expected any financial aid from public universities – to which you applied. That’s not how higher education works in America. I’m sorry to say that you either were misinformed - or underinformed. You can search for “large corporate scholarships” (I’m not sure they exist, by the way) to help you, or you can do what most international students do: go to school in their home country, or take a gap year, and reapply, more strategically the second time around.
Did you apply to and get accepted at University of Alabama like you said you were going to do? Did you get accepted, and with what aid? Is it affordable?
@thumper1 Thanks so much for the quick response. I did not apply to UAlabama, and what I meant by aid was merit aid. Even my best friend who is an international got a merit scholarship to Rutgers which I unfortunately did not receive, and I know it is my fault for believing that.
I am just trying to find any scholarships that I can apply to which can help me finance my top schools. I have actually received quite large aid from smaller schools in NJ but just for these two institutions, I need help.
