I am hoping to attend USC school of music in 2010, I am currently a senior but will take a gap year.

I havent taken my SAT yet, but am doing so in May and then again in June and probably in September aswell!!

What are the average SAT scores? GPAs? I’m studying in England so am doing the equivalent of APs.

What do you think are my chances of acceptance? Practice SAT was about 1800, I know I need to improve that a lot. What are the chances of getting financial aid? I know there is a scholarship for international students that pays 1/2 tuition but I have no idea what scores I need to be getting to get the scholarship.

adam, cc411 has listed a lot of great links so you can familiarize yourself with the sort of applicants who have been successful at USC. I wanted to add that since you intend to major in music, your audition will be counted heavily and may out-weigh test scores to some extent. You will still want to be at least in the middle range, if possible, of accepted students scores. But the good news is your performance will count a lot. Good luck.

cc411,
It is on the site all letters of admission and regret letters should be out by April 1. According to the “Meet SC” booklet May 1 is National Candidates’ Reply Date. This is the date by which all admitted freshmen who plan to attend USC must submit their deposit.

From what I have read on other forums this appears to be a reply date used by most of the U.S. universities.

Georgia Girl- I pm’d you but I think I figured out what you are saying- I think you are referring to my statement:

My statement was a little awkward so maybe you read, “the very end OF April.” I should have been more clear that I mean the rejections come at the very end- in April. You are right that they should be out by April 1. USC states the date April 11 because they are probably adding in time for all to receive their letters.

But adambedford has another whole year to worry about that!

Thanks guys.
I am hoping to do a music industry course that (I think) comprises more business than music performance, do you think I will have to audition for this course?
