I’ve done my IGCSEs, but as a private candidate as I dropped out of high school for the last year (Year 11) for family reasons.
Currently prepping for the SAT, but I’m confused as to what I should do in addition to this. I’d like to go to a top college, although my family’s financial doesn’t allow for much, so a scholarship would be lifesaving. (According to a friend dedicated to these college admissions info) Most top unis asked for IGCSE +SAT+A levels+Toefl/IELTS and I’m like WHAT?! Too much effort, and not a lot of resources or teachers in my country, plus private schools are expensive. Also, doing AP and ACT here requires attending private schools which equals a LOT of money, so I’m backing out.
So do I do the SAT subject tests? Of course, TOEFL or IELTS will come at some point, but what else? Any advice?
“Too much effort” is a give away to your temperament, my friend. If you want to get into a top Uni in the US, you have to expend more effort than you ever thought possible. Especially as an INTL student looking for FA. Being brutally honest, there is no way I can see this plan working for you.
If you want to persist, of course, do SAT subject tests. And you can self-study APs, so that isn’t a great excuse. Go in College board’s website, there will be information for international students. Good luck.
