International Student - parents refuse to pay

I know an international student that is currently a high school senior at the boarding school in the US because she planned on going to an american university. However, due to family problems her parents are not willing to pay for college anymore. Is there any way for her to still study in the US?

It seems her best bet is to meet with your school’s counseling staff.

Is the nature of her parents change of heart financial? If so, there are need-based colleges that can cover school expenses if the family is unable to pay for. Princeton and MIT are examples of such. A friend of mine (from Brazil) got a full ride at Brandeis University recently.

Your friend will certainly find more precise information by contacting the school’s counseling staff as T26E4 mentioned.
