Also, I have published articles in more than five different national magazines and newspapers. My activity as a writer has been reflected in a book published by one of these magazines.

My problem, however, is my 1580 SAT Score (very low, I’m a really bad test taker). My SAT Subject Scores are going to be much higher, I believe.
Is this score going to lead to the rejection of my application (HYP)?
What about Wellesley/Williams/Mt Holyoke/Duke/Pomona?

Your stats are spectacular other than that low SAT score. You should consider colleges that support optional SATs.

[SAT/ACT Optional 4-Year Universities | FairTest](http://fairtest.org/university/optional/state)

You are a perfect candidate for test optional schools. One look at the common data set tells you all of these schools ate pretty much impossible with a 1580.

Look into Bowdoin and Middlebury, which are both test-optional (Midd will let you submit 3 subject tests in lieu of the SAT, iirc, and is very strong in language studies and literature). Consider retaking the SAT and/or taking the ACT.

Your SAT score, as it stands now, is way too low for the schools you are considering, despite your great credentials.

I’m amazed! 3rd Place at the International Olympiad of Linguistics? I wish people knew how impressive that is. As an IMO participant, I salute you. If you got that, how can you be a bad test taker? You’re probably just bad at English or math. Honestly, I think that you can get into some schools brute-force style. Sure your SAT might be subpar, but 3rd at IOL? You’re pretty much a genius at what you do- and I don’t care what the SAT or some posters say. I hope admissions officers share my sentiments. You do know that some Ivy league schools accept some students with bad (sub 1800)SAT scores? I think you can be one of them if you’re able to raise your score to 1800.

Actually, how can you be bad at math if you’re third at IOL? I believe that contest requires logic that’s similar to mathematical reasoning. Dude, I have no idea how you got 1580 on the SAT, but you did something wrong. Hit the SAT prep forums and raise that score as high as you can. I believe that you can get 2300+ easily. Seriously, why have that foible t that’s holding you back from greatness. If you have already applied to colleges, just contact them and tell them that you’re retaking the SAT and that they should wait just a little more. It would be an absolute shame if you ended up in a college that’s not in the top 20-- I would honestly feel horrible for you.

Cardgames, thanks for the advice. Btw, where are you from?

Any chances for retaking the SAT ?
get 1900 , head off to an ivy !!!
