No. (10 char)

Your ECs look pretty solid. Try to push up your SAT score. If you push it beyond 2000, 2100, you’ll be fine on that front (given that English is not your first language).

As far as your straight B’s are concerned, tell Yale about it in your application. Yale practices affirmative action i.e they’ll incorporate your special circumstances in their analysis leading to your final decision.

Best of luck!

i’m sorry to say this, but your SAT score will **definitely **keep you out.

No way, sorry.

don’t take those guys serious who tell you that you can’t get in. They are just speculating. Try to push your SAT, do whatever possible to make yout application look better, just do your best and go for it. you’ll be fine. You’ve got enough time left.

^ Look, we’re just being honest, and he should absolutely take us seriously. Straight Bs and a 1750 won’t even get a recruited athlete or URM into Yale, much less an ORM. Many, many people (myself included) get better grades/scores with “family issues” at home, so that’s really no excuse.

^ Agreed. Plus the OP is an international from an overrepresented country. According to Yale’s Admit website, 11 Indians were admitted this year i.e. only the most competitive applicants from India get in. I see nothing from the OP’s profile to suggest that he/she is in this selective pool.
P.s. I also had family problems yet I had much better sat/grades/ECs/awards

thanks guys…
i would also really appreciate if u could recommend some good buisness schools…

by the way…india isnt an overrepresented country…
11 indians got into yale…but they were all from major cities…
We have power cuts for 9 hours every day…people really do have problems here…
My dad is in depression since like a year and he hasent got like even half a thousand dollars for my education…
but m trying my best…

well ur e/c’s are nice
but as a fellow indian i would like to tell you that competition is fierce and cut-throat.Your sports activities look nice but i would recommend you to have safeties.BTW how much FinAid do you need?

I completely understand and sympathize with your personal problems, and I think that if you write about them in your essays there are lots of American universities that will take you. I just honestly don’t think Yale will be one of them.

I think Yale is going to be a very long shot for you. Competition for international students is more brutal than for students in the US and that’s saying a lot.

You asked about business schools. I want to make sure that you understand that in the US you get your undergraduate degree first and then (usually after working for 2+ years) you apply to business school for an MBA. If you are asking for undergraduate colleges that have strong business departments, you might want to ask that question on a different forum, like the Parents Forum. The issue for you will be that very few (ten or less, I believe) schools in the US offer comprehensive financial aid to international students. Unfortunately, these are among the very most competitive colleges in the country in terms of admissions. You might want to look much further down in the rankings to see where you might be able to get merit aid if you are determined to go to school in the US. In the financial aid forum, there are several great threads about merit money. Again, given your junior year grades and SATs, you will need to look much further down the rankings for substantial merit money.

You see, Yale (as with the other top schools) is not a charitable organization - it’s not out to admit those who faced the most problems in life. Unless you can demonstrate how you’ve succeeded despite the odds, Yale is unlikely to take you.

I’m an international like you. I’ve faced lots of problems in life too, perhaps even more so than you. But instead of harping on my problems as if THEY would get me into college, I was positive about them and hardly talked about them.

Also, do consider why you want to attend a business school for undergrad, which is frankly very different from what you would typically learn at Yale College. You better have a good answer for this, if not you would have a hard time convincing Yale/bizsch.

ok thanks for the replies…I took the SAT again and scored 2100 this may…
itz way better then last time anywayz…
thanks once again.

there are kids in india with 2400 SATs and ISEF Grand Prize trophies sitting on their desks. that would make up for about the 10 or so kids who were accepted to Yale this year. let’s be realistic, there’s a high chance you’re going to be wasting time and money.
