International student to NY private schools late application for grade 6

Hello,
It appears we will be moving to NYC in the near future. I have a grade 5 boy in an IB school in London.

We had him take the isee not prepped last year when we were told off this possibility- 72-79% in the 4 tests.

He is very bright but has a huge writing handicap which his (new) school is addressing with speech to text. The only standardised tests his school gives show him very able in maths (95 and highest percentile), ok on persuasive writing (~85% as was not with speech to text) and at around 45% for the narrative writing as it includes spelling and he cannot spell for the life of him. Extremely well regarded at school for his ideas and depth/breadth of knowledge.

What schools in NYC would he have a chance with late application and need for speech to text accomodation?

I am considering all the IB schools and wonder if he would have an advantage there being international (and Latino) and coming from another IB school?

Additional schools he may have a chance in pleeeeease? If worse comes to worse we could move in January if people tend to leave mid year (and not miss out on the already paid term in London.)

Try Dwight. They have both IB and a specialized program for learning differences. Large international population and might be more likely to have movement over the summer.

Brooklyn Friends School has an IB program and a big focus on DEI. They sometimes fill late summer or even mid year slots.
