International Student transferring to NYU Gallatin for spring 2013

Hey guys! I’m planning to transfer to NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study this upcoming spring 2013. By the way, I’m an international college student.

I’ve been dreaming of studying to New York University ever since I was a kid, and going to New York means a lot to me, so given of the opportunity and resources that could help me, I want to fulfill my dream. I’m actually planning of attaining my master’s degree and attend NYU SCPS right after my graduation, but I’ve read that in NYU Gallatin, they let their students create and plan their own curriculum that meets their specific interest. Since I like business and I have a lot of passion in music, I’m planning of majoring in leadership and Management studies - which is the nearest course to my current course - and minoring in music. I want to pursue my interest in music while I’m on my field in business, and I know that NYU can help me.

I’m just an average student, and being an average student makes me unique. I am unique because I have dreams and goals in my life, and I would do everything to reach those dreams.

Given the fact that I’m just an average student, my HS grade is not that high, but not too low. In the Philippines grading system, my average grade is only 88%. I haven’t taken yet the TOEFL neither the SAT nor the ACT in which I really don’t have a plan to get because I’ve read in NYU website that those transfer applicants who already completed at least one academic year in their institution are not required of taking the SAT nor the ACT anymore. I’ve been engaged in a lot of Leadership activities and seminars because of my current organization in our school. As well in performing, I’m a choir member in our church since I was a kid, and I’ve been involved in a lot of performing clubs such as Drama club, Music club, and Dance Club way back in my high school days. I’m also into sports, I’ve been trained to play Basketball and Badminton, and I’ve been part of clubs and varsity in both said sports. I’m a consistent part of our classroom officer and have been involved in the school student council. I’ve won a lot of Balagtasan contests or Poetrical joust in English, even awarded as Best Male Host and invited to host a lot of events in our school.

So what do you think are my chances?
Thank you very much!

P.S.
If I wasn’t accepted for spring 2013, I’m planning to apply again for fall 2013

You can’t apply for fall 2013 if you get rejected in spring 2013. You have to wait a full calendar year to re-apply.

Transferring into NYU is more difficult than getting in as a freshmen. Your GPA on a 4.0 scale should be around 3.6 to have a good chance of transferring into NYU.

But can I apply and transfer to NYU Gallatin as a Freshman for fall 2013

NYU does not accept freshmen transfers. You have to have completed 30 acceptable college credits by the time you would enter NYU in order to apply as a transfer.
