I am a student from India studying in Qatar. I am looking for the most appropriate college I can join for mechanical engineering major. I can contribute 20-30k a year for my education .So I would definitely be needing financial aid . I am expecting atlest 32-33 on my next ACT and 700+ on SAT subject tests (Phy,Chem ,Math 2). Which is the best college i can apply for early decision ?
Admissions in the US is not based solely on test-scores (as in the UK). Secondary school marks (and universities know the Indian equivalencies) and what you do outside the classroom (extra-curriculars) also matter- a lot.
Also, anybody can apply to any university early decision (ED)- there are no restrictions on applying (though some universities restrict you to only applying to one). The point of ED is that you promise that if you get in you will attend. Although you are allowed to turn down an ED acceptance if the Financial Aid package isn’t enough, most people suggest that if FinAid is critical, ED is not your best bet, as you won’t have multiple offers to compare and choose from.
Your test scores are strong enough to apply anywhere- but your success will depend on what else you have to offer.
It is based on test scores & grades at some schools. At the University of Alabama, you could land an automatic full-tuition Presidential Scholarship with an SAT CR+M score of at least 1400 plus a GPA of 3.5. You would only need to fund your room/board, books, expenses & travel-- very do-able for your stated budget.
Thank you collegemom3717 and GMTplus7 for answering my query
I study in CBSE curriculum and i have secured 9.8 in grade 10 and the predicted score range for class 12 is 90% + ,recommendations are expected to be good and i have attended MUNs, quizzes , and won national level science contests in grade 10 and 11.I have also won a few science exhibitions and essay contests in school .But mainly i have focused on MUNs.The problem is aid. Where can I study mechanical engineering with aid as an international.
Which is the best university has a good chance of accepting me in early decision with aid??
Why do you need to apply early decision?
