International Students Decisions

Please post here if you are an international applicant to UW and have received an admission decision.

I have not received an email or letter yet, but I just checked my unofficial transcript and it loaded! Does this mean I’ve been accepted…?

sophaloph: Most likely, yeah. They never prepare unofficial transcripts for people who are not accepted. Keep an eye out for an email or letter though! :)

My unofficial transcript loaded as well! however i applied for aerospace engineering. But my major is listed on my unofficial transcript as PREENGINEERING? does this mean i didn’t make it into aerospace?

EDIT: Sorry, no direct admit for A&A … just checked their website.

There’s upper division and early admission for AA. More info here:
http://www.aa.washington.edu/admissions/undergrad.html

wait so if we applied for A&A…what do we get admitted as into freshman year?

undeclared 10char

oh…so basically we are majorless the first year? wow that’s scary O.O

Yeah you can go up to your first quarter junior year (or 105 credits equivalent) undeclared. Many people start declaring majors their first or second year though.

i don’t know speedsolver, i feel like going into a university as ‘undeclared’ is very…risky? It feels like there is no goal but just you taking classes here and there. Is that the case or am just oblivious?

If I was intending on majoring in AA, yes I would feel like it is risky going into a university undeclared. There’s no telling what would happen. What if you don’t get into your major? Do you have a back up plan?

However, you know you want to do AA. Get the prereqs to apply to the major done ASAP while maintaining a high GPA. Take a few fun classes to balance out all the math and science. You do have a goal of getting into AA. That puts you ahead of quite a few freshman already.

You aren’t oblivious. You certainly have the right to be hesitant about going into a university as undeclared. If you decide to go to UW, talk to the AA advisers ASAP. As about the options you have as a prospective student. Draft out a course plan with the advisers to finish your prereqs so you can apply to the major.

Some people go to university with NO IDEA what they’re going to do. “Maybe something that will make me money” or “I have 2 years to figure it out… let’s take random classes!” That’s the case where you have no goal and are just taking classes here and there. A good number of those people end up as psych majors because so many “random” classes that students take fulfill psych requirements.

Am an international student, but haven’t gotten any emails or letters from UW since I applied.

Wait a little more
They said on website that they’ve sent out all notification letter already.

Creamania, where did you saw that post? And I thought international students will receive an email first then a letter, but I haven’t receive anything yet. :(

I’m an international student, just got the acceptance letter by post today in a yellow envelope. Have not received an email from UW so far, so it surprised me when my mom told me that there was a letter from UW. I thought international students would be informed by email. Perhaps not.

They may be sending out the decisions by post to international students as well, not just US applicants.

@writtenonthebody : where are you from? i am from india and still haven’t received any decision letter . .

Yeah, there were a couple of kids at my school (I go to an international school in Seoul, Korea) who received a physical letter today; no prior email! Let’s just hold on for a bit longer!

I’m from India.

Just got an email that I’ve been accepted.

Waiting for the admissions mail now. :D

Just got an acceptance email!!!

I’m from China.

I’ve got an rejection email… But I’m thinking about doing an appeal.
