International transfer - additional courses needed?

Hi everyone!

I am California resident, but I have studied engineering in Russia for 3 years, so technically I am transfering internationally. I have taken TOEFL test(101) and my GPA is 3.7, I am not sure if I need to take some more english classes at CC before transfering.

Does anyone have any information on this case?
Thank you
Anna

If you have 3 years of college it makes most sense to graduate in Russia and apply to masters or PhD programs in the States. Most good colleges will not accept a transfer who has completed 3 years. Also,if you need any funding, it will be much easier to find for grad school programs.

Thank you for your answer.

My situation is a little bit unique just because I was studying Printing Engineering in Russia and would like to change my major to the Chemical Engineering. What’s more is that educational system in Russia has 5 years of studies, not 4.
I am not sure that classes I had during my third year are tranferrable, they are mostly printing classes. But my first two years of study contained chemistry, physics and math.

By the way, I’ve applied to UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UC Berkeley and USC.

Contact the International Admissions officer at each of these places, and ask about your specific situation. They are the people who can give you the most useful advice.
