Hello. I’m currently a first year Computer Engineering student of University of the Philippines-Diliman. Due to a combination of poor habits and a lack of a complete Math curriculum at the HS I graduated from, I’ve been having trouble with my Math (College Algebra & Trigonometry) here at Uni. As of now, I am BARELY passing with a C grade.

Recently I have started to grasp the lessons more. However, we have 4 more weeks left in the sem. I have zero chance of increasing my grade to an A or even a B+ with two exams remaining. Thus, if I do pass the course and transfer, my overall GPA will take a significant toll (I have A’s in all of my 6 other subjects).

Next year, my family plans to enroll me in a CCC where I will complete enough course credit to be eligible for transfer to a UC campus. I’ve read that upon failing or dropping a course and retaking it the next semester, the UC admissions will consider the higher grade and disregard the failing one. Is this true? Would this also apply to courses taken in foreign colleges?

The deadline for me to either drop or keep my subjects is tomorrow. I’ve been up the past two days trying to figure out what to do.

Thanks for any advice.
