<p>Has internet use (and the overall distraction caused by social media) impacted college graduation rates? Were four year college graduation rates higher prior to the internet?</p>
<p>There are enough confounding factors that it may be impossible to isolate the effect of internet use. Note that the use of internet and social media could also improve students’ time efficiency in social activities.</p>
<p>For what it is worth, four year graduation rates at most UC campuses have been rising since the early 1990s.</p>
