Internet Policy Key

I swear this is making my macbook run slower than it used to. Is this happening to anyone else?

And has anyone tried uninstalling it? I had the same problem with that STC manager last year and after uninstalling it i was all hunky dory but i’m afraid that since this manager is different (is it?) the upper echelons of ucla will come down to hunt me.

its apple remotely forcing macbooks to slow down, thus making you more likely to want to upgrade to a new one come tuesday.

What happens if I uninstall the UCLA Policy Key?

You can uninstall UCLA Policy Key at any time; however within minutes you will then be unable to access the Internet. You will be required to reinstall the Policy Key as if you are a new user to gain Internet access.

the policy key uses a minute amount of processing power… its just a small background process that checks for antivirus (since there’s nothing else to check for on a mac).

open the activity monitor, then look around. it might be sophos (if you’re using it), since sophos is sometimes stupid like that, or it might be something else.

I’m not sure what the OS X version checks for since I’m running it without any anti-virus installed.
