Well, my roommate and I are preparing for the new semester. We have our new apartment and we need internet service.

We have settled for AT&T Yahoo DSL. I want to get the $10/month special offer plan:

http://attsignup.net/att_order_10.htm

I tried calling AT&T about our eligibility. Because we don’t have phone service, they say they thus don’t have the criteria to determine our eligibility. But they won’t tell me which bare minimum phone service is required for the Basic Plan for High Speed Internet.

I thought AT&T offers a cheap phone line-customers receive only calls. But the AT&T hotline operator said none exits.

Any advice on what phone service I should choose?

Also, any warnings (taxes, additional charges) about the $10/month plan I am seeking? Is there any reasonable advantage to call a technician to set up the internet I plant to purchase?

Thanks.
