Internship Abroad Letter of Rec

I recently finished a two week internship at a local Chamber of Commerce in Germany in which I did substantial work, i.e.:

  • Translated Speeches for President/VP of the Chamber
  • Wrote a speech for the CEO of the Chamber to use for International affairs
  • Designed the homepage for a new government subsidiary
  • Appeared on a local television station
I received a very positive Zeugnis (comparable to a letter of rec.) that confirms the work I did throughout my internship and gave me a great performance review. It is also signed by the CEO of the Chamber. Here’s the catch – The whole thing is in German :frowning:
I understand that I should not submit just a German version; would it be okay if I additionally submitted a certified English translation?
Should I submit it as an additional letter of rec. or as a supplementary material?

Though there are different opinions about this, I don’t think that this is worth an additional LoR for most schools (and definitely not for the schools who discourage extra letters)… The primary purpose of an LoR is to speak to how you are as a student.

A two-week internship is a fine thing to include in your ECs, and this one could be the underpinning for a good essay, but aside from demonstrating that you have strong German skills, an LoR will just say ‘did a good job on a 2-week internship’- and it won’t matter whether the signature is the CEO or the Office Manager.
