Internship abroad though IAESTE -- anyone have any experience in this matter?

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to look at my thread.

I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with the IAESTE program. IAESTE is supposedly a non-profit that tries to match up interns with international employers. I think I’m close to getting an offer but have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand I like how unique it is in the sense that the position being offered is in Europe (I’m in the U.S.) and in the field of computer vision (which is a field I’m interested in and seems like a valuable skill in the industry right now) but the pay seems really low. I understand that as an intern I shouldn’t be looking at the pay so much as the opportunity but the pay is only ~750 Euro a month (though housing will also be provided which I suppose is a pretty large expense). According to their estimates this should be enough to cover living expenses in the city I’ll be staying in. I’m not too concerned about the pay, like I said I think the experience is worth a lot and I’ll have a lot of money from my other internship to supplement the meager paycheck they’re offering. I think the opportunity of getting an internship in a field in a topic I really like and possibly picking up a new language is a great opportunity but I still have some doubts about my choice because of the meager pay.

In some sense it feels like a scam of some sort but I’ve actually met one person from this program and after looking for it online I can’t find anything that labels it as a scam.

Does anyone have any advice, or better is anyone here an alumni of the IAESTE program?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
