Hey guys, I’m asking this in the parent forum because I feel that you guys will have experience in this situation. A company booked for my air travel as well as car rental for an on-site interview. However, I am 20 years old but almost 21. I gave my birthday to my HR rep and she did all the magic in setting up the travel arrangements. However, I thought there is an age restriction on renting a car. Since the company is renting it and i’m picking it up, will there be any issue since im under typical rental age?

bumppppppppp

No, it would just cost more, and the company will pay for it. If you are unsure, you could always email HR to let them know.

It depends on the corporate contract. You can call the car rental company.

It may also depend on the state or states where you will be driving.

I would definitely check it out with the rental car company, and if there is a problem, notify the company where you will be interviewing so that they can arrange for other transportation such as airport shuttles.

If you’re staying overnight, it wouldn’t hurt to also check with the hotel and make sure you can register there even though you are under 21. Make sure you mention that you are coming for a job interview and X company made the reservation – that might make a difference. There are some hotels in some communities that will not rent a room to a person under 21, but in your case, they’re really renting to the company, so your age may not matter.

Good advice.

And good luck!!
