Internship Question

Now i just talked with a CEO i know from a rather small company near where i live (25 million Electronic Manufacturer)… now im going to b a frosh… i did my senior high school project at his company Libra Industries… he told me to come work for him during the summer…now personally im not interested in Manufacturing… but im very openminded about my future…

would working for a company ( almost as an internship im guessing… paid that is) be still beneficial even if im not going to enter their industry ( more than likely)

i know that at such a young age…any experience is good experience… soo i could prolly answer this question myself… but say i wanted to go into consulting 4 years down the road… would this help at all?.. or what about Ibanking?.. would this be “meaningful work experience” i guess is where im trying to get at

i dont really know if this will help you in ibanking or consulting but as you said any experience is good experience and if the ceo asks you to come work for him that seems like a wonderful opportunity and could lead to help you when interviewing with companies in the future just because you can discuss the things you did at this company…i personally feel this could be beneficial for you plus its paid so not a bad deal at all

Experience hardly has to be relevant, it’s going to be awesome material to use when you interview for your next job (Behavioral Interviews). Along with the experience some cash couldn’t hurt either. This will help u get into ibanking or consulting because now you can quickly start searching for relevant and internships are prestigious firms when you have completed your internship.

Experience is experience. If we all had to do only relevant things, volunteering wouldn’t be important at all, but obviously stuff like that is. So irrelevant work is still work experience, and I don’t even think yours is irrelevant at all because it’s certainly business related. Plus, not everyone will have the opportunity you got with that CEO. To make it even more relevant, you might become an operations management consultant that specializes in the manufacturing industry. The important thing is, you can’t really expect to start out big. Your first job/internship will most likely NOT be in investment banking. But you have to let little things build on each other. You have to start somewhere.
