I was looking at the CAPs website, which by the way is off the charts in its presented information, but can’t seem to find any listings for freshman. Can someone explain in detail how CAPs helps in the first year of college? Do they help build resumes or cover letters? How many students does each CAPs counselor have?

Moreover, is it possible to get an internship during Freshman year (I’m looking into Scottrade) even if its in a small company or a local branch of a cooperation?

CAPS (capital S; it’s an acronym) helps all years. They love helping with resumes and cover letters. It’s not really a matter of how many students each counselor has since some students don’t use CAPS, some use them occassionally, and many students take the first counselor available for their question. You can of course get an internship summer after your first year (which I’m assuming is what you’re talking about). You may not get your first choice or a very competitive internship, but if you search carefully and prepare, you can definitely get one. There’s not anything special about “internship” as opposed to other good jobs and opportunities, though. We also use MonsterTrak which has thousands of job and internship listings specifically for U of C students.
