Internships for freshmen in high school

Hi! I’m a freshman in highschool (using this account for privacy). I want to start getting internships early to increase my chances of getting into a T20. I have an idea of how to look for internships, but I don’t know too much about the topic. I would prefer a remote internship from a well-known college or company, but anything is welcome. If anyone can drop some internships they did here, I would be super grateful! Thanks

Or when you’re old enough get a job at a fast food restaurant or grocery store…or somewhere else.

You want experience…responsibility, etc.

You should partake at school - band, sports, clubs. Or in the community - volunteering somewhere like an animal shelter or somewhere else.

If you can find an internship great - but if not, it’s not needed to get into a great school.

Good luck.

I expect it would be difficult to get a meaningful internship as a HS freshman (unless perhaps you have family contacts). That said any extracurricular activity is valuable – seek out things you care about in your school or community and work to make a meaningful contribution during your HS years. As noted above, a part-time job is a well regarded activity as well.

Keep in mind that T20 schools often have single digit acceptance rates and can be quite different in terms of size, location, and many other important attributes. Over the next couple of years I recommend you do some more research and expand your horizons. There are tons of amazing colleges and universities out there.

Okay, thank you! I do have family contacts in Duke, but nowhere else. I’ll look into a part-time job.

Thank you! I’ll look for a part-time job if possible.

This is not my original account. I’m using this because I’ll be asking questions with a lot of personal info.

At least in my state you can get working papers at 14, working will make it easier to get an internship in college (usually upperclassmen, it’s competitive). My two oldest are college graduates working for the companies where they interned junior year, my 21 year old is interning this summer with a company who hires many from junior year internship.

Could you elaborate? This is a very broad statement.
What type work?
Why is this your goal as a high school freshman?

With the limited information we have, I believe you are going about this the wrong way.

Closing. Poster is welcome to re-post with their original account since multiple accounts are a violation of ToS.
