My father is friends with the mayor of a big city (~55,000 people or so) and I was offered an intership for the summer of 2007 (between soph-junior year) with the city hall involving budgeting, payrolls etc (paid between $9-12/hr). I am a finance major who eventually wants to go into investing, not accounting/budgeting. Will this internship be of any use? Should I turn it down and look for internships with bigger financial/investment firms? Or should I take this city job for one summer and THEN look for something better the next summer?
