Interview, impressions

So I just had my student interview this past week. I understand that there is a thread dedicated to this, but I thought I’d post anyway. What I’m wondering is how can you tell whether or not your interview went well? I mean, I feel like it went swimmingly (interviewer seemed truly interested in what I had to say, no awkward silences or anything, got to talk about who I was), but is there any way to really tell? I mean, could my interviewer have been yanking my chain? Also, in your own interview, how much did you talk? I felt like I talked a lot and the interviewer listened and made comments or asked me questions. Is this how it usually goes?
Also, my interviewer gave me his business card. Is this typical for an interview or am I reading into things?

There is not really a way to tell. If you think it went well, it probably did. Even if you didn’t think you did well, it probably wouldn’t matter. I’m personally convinced that your interview won’t help at all, and will only hurt if they determine that you’re a psychopath.

He probably gave you his business card so you could ask him any questions about Yale that you thought of. I’m not sure what else you could read into that.

Yeah, interviews aren’t THAT important, and student interviews are even less important. They just a) make you feel better and b) lets them look for red flags, like arrogance.

You’re supposed to talk a lot. That’s the way they get a feel for you.
