Interview question/pointless chance question

The Interview FAQ thread says that everyone that applies to brown, given a few exceptions, is granted an interview.
If that is the case, why did my interviewer email me saying "I would like to be one of the first to congratulate you on being in a very select class of students. Being offered an interview with Brown University is a very rare opportunity. Your hard work and dedication in academics and extracurricular interest has put you at the top and I want to say, "great job!””

also, can someone give me some feedback on my chances for PLME? (I know that the admission rate is crazy ridiculous at 5%, but I don’t know.)
Ok so.
Unweighted GPA: 3.8 (Frankly it’s that low because of the Bs I received in the four semesters of mandatory phys ed freshman and sophomore year. I’ve only ever gotten one B+ in an academic class)
Weighted GPA: 4.2
Class Rank: 26/552
SAT I: 710 CR, 740 M, 790 W
SAT II: 710 Bio M, 710 US History, 800 Spanish
APs: Euro-4, APUSH-4, Psych-3, Bio-4, English Lang-5
Current Schedule: AP Lit, AP Stats, AP Gov, AP Econ, Physiology and Anatomy, Journalism.

• High Tide Newspaper Senior News Editor, Gay Straight Alliance Club, Peer Tutoring, Harry Potter Club (Founding member, Co-President), Invisible Children Club, Hospital Volunteer (at a highly selective volunteer program in Los Angeles), Local Drug Use Prevention Task Force Student Rep. (nominated by guidance counselor). I also volunteered at a day care center for the children of low income ESL students for an entire summer. I also work at a law firm (i don’t know if that matters.)

I don’t know. I feel like everyone who applies to PLME/Brown is absolutely amazing/a super star. What are my chances?

I completely forgot about my awards.

Here are the awards that I have won:

• National Hispanic Scholar Recognition (12)
• AP Scholar with Distinction (12)
• Principal’s Honor Roll (12, 11, 10, 9)—4.0 GPA or better
• California Scholarship Federation (CSF) (12, 11, 10)
• PTA Academic Letter and Pin–3.5 GPA or better for six semesters (12, 11)
• High Tide Editor of the Issue (12)
• Ivy Chain–Nominated for Academic Excellence and Citizenship (11)
• CSF Seal Bearer Expected
• News Writer of the Year (11)

I wonder if your interviewer isn’t going over the top with trying to sell you on Brown. Receiving an interview is an honor in the fact that you paid an admission fee and are being evaluated. That’s it. It’s not an “honor” at all. You’re the one who did the work. You deserve a full evaluation. Period.

Brown would like to have 100% of its applicants interviewed if possible. There is no pre-read to determine who gets one.

Best of luck to you.

Your interviewer is either confused or just trying to make you feel good.
