<p>How is the interview set up? Does MIT call you after your application is submitted if they find you a competitive applicant? Please explain :).</p>
<p>After you make your MyMIT account (my.mit.edu), used to submit the application and track all of your required materials, you’ll get the contact information for your interviewer (aka Educational Counselor, or EC), if there’s one in your area. Once you have that information, it’s up to you to set up the interview - keep in mind, though, that the admission rate for applicants who don’t have an interview even though there’s someone in their area is MUCH lower than those that do have an interview.</p>
<p>If there isn’t an EC in your area, your interview will be waived, no big deal.</p>

In order: “Does MIT call you?” - Almost never, for anything. That just doesn’t work given the size of the applicant pool.</p>
<p>“after your application is submitted” - part of your application may include your interview report, and these can be submitted in any order. There are students who chose to have their interview at the very start of the process, but most choose to have their interview after working on the MIT application or at least thinking about it for a while as it allows the applicants to ask their EC more useful questions about MIT than they would if they knew less about the Institute</p>
<p>“…if they find you a competitive applicant” - This is not a decision that they can reach until they review your file. Your interview report will be part of the file that they review, and can help to determine whether you are in fact, competitive.</p>
<p>i loved my interview…dont treat it as anything more than meeting some1 to talk…just be urself…and TAKE THE INTERVIEW! coz it like triples ur chances</p>

<p>Did it have a cute, hyperactive dog? It can’t be awesome unless your interviewer had a cute, hyperactive dog! Getting slobbered on first thing when you walk in and commenting on it to that effect make for a great icebreaker. ;)</p>

<p>Sorry to hear that. I try to keep my interviews light and enjoyable. There are times when that doesn’t work out but they are extremely rare.</p>
<p>I get asked many of the same interview questions each year (eg. what should I wear, etc.) and many of my answers are on this forum, and are easily found.</p>

It was my best one. Really, it was way more like a conversation than an interview. I think I asked way too many questions though XD</p>
<p>My interview experience was fun and a great relief. I had opted to
interview in August last year and it turned out I was my ECs first
interviewee for the new season.</p>
<p>It was my first interview for college - ever! Talking to my EC was
so relaxing it helped me interview with all my other colleges with
confidence.</p>

my interviewer was great… somehow we ended up talking about harry potter jokes rather than MIT. haha it was fun</p>
