Interview request before portal/log in information sent?

I’ve just been contacted for an interview but I never got any email from brown about my application status (no portal information, nothing). I tried the “forgot password” method to activate my account that was stated in another thread and it says my information isn’t found…

Is that normal?

Most applicant names have been uploaded onto the web portal for alumni interviewers to access. I don’t think there is a connection between getting that email from Brown and getting an interview. At least you know Brown got your application.

I still haven’t received my application status account from Brown and I got an interview request too. I think its normal.

I’ve already gotten my interview and I still haven’t received my app status account from Brown yet. So I guess you need not worry too much.

I was admitted ED and the same thing happened to me. I received my login about a week after I received my interview request. Partly this is just because the admissions office has to clear logins through CIS, whereas admissions themselves can update the alumni portal.

Hah! My D applied last NOVEMBER and hasn’t been contacted.

My S received an interview request but no info yet from Brown on application status. It appears this is the way they do things, to ensure as many interviews can be completed as possible. (My S is doing RD and submitted his application on 12/30.)

I haven’t received either request. Both me and a student in my school applied to Brown and we have not gotten any interview information. Has anyone else from the NYC area gotten an interview notice?

With another 20% increase in applications, Brown is working hard to find alumni to interview all the students.

For example: I just got an email from a friend who is an area chair who has 90 interviewers in his area – which still isn’t enough to cover the 20% increase in applicants. He has 31 students he has not assigned yet (he just ran out of alumni volunteers in his area). I volunteered to do phone interviews for some of them – I just got their names, and haven’t called them yet.

Remember, even though there may be a lot of Brown alums in the area, not all volunteer to interview.

All I can say is that we are working on it, really. If you haven’t been contacted by Feb. 1, then call admissions.

Thanks fireandrain. For someone waiting since early November, that helps make a lot of sense (especially when many of the other colleges contacted within days or weeks of application, so it’s been confusing. I know all the schools didn’t have the same number of applicant increases). We’re from a big metro area so I ASSUMED they’d go in chronological order of application date. Silly of me, I know. Our Harvard club actually told us to contact them after 30 days, but no word even on that contact. So it’s kind of odd. But…it’s all good.
