DS has been named as PS semifinalist, and will be having his interview with local alumni group next week. Any idea/tips about how would be the interview? What kind of questions would they ask? Should he be preparing for any thing specific?

Also what criteria do they use to select PS finalists from the semi-finalist pool?

Any tips would be really helpful. Thanking you in advance.

Your son should be able to talk about what he put on his resume and what he has done in high school, and be himself. That’s really it. There will likely be questions that are not about what he’s done, but he’ll be fine. As in all interviews, he should feel free to ask clarifying questions and take a bit of time to think about his responses. It’s OK not to respond immediately.

Obviously some students are going to perform “better” in the interview than others, but he should not get overly stressed. Everyone who has made it to an interview is exceptional in some way. His job is just to share what makes him “him” with the interviewers. They’re not going to try to trick him or anything like that.
