Interview Weekend vs. On Campus Interview

Which one would you recommend? Are the interview weekend interviewers, Alumni or admissions officers?

admissions

I don’t think GW has any alumni interviewers.

GW has something called the GW Admissions, Alumni and Parent Program. When GW does college fairs, large info sessions, and interview days on the road, they recruit alumni and parents to help out.

So if you interview on campus, your interviewer will be an admissions rep or a student.

If you interview in a remote location at one of the regional interview days, you will be interviewed by an admissions rep or alum. In my area, typically 2 admissions reps (the one assigned to our geographic area plus one more) come and are assisted by volunteer alumni and parents from the area.

It works out pretty well for applicants who want to interview but can’t make it to campus.

I think this is a point worth emphasizing: even if you trek on over to Foggy Bottom to interview, you might be interviewed by a student. In fact, my daughter was. Now, this was fine for her, since we live fairly near Washington, and she did get into GW. But it emphasizes the point that an interview on campus isn’t necessarily any better or worse than an interview away from GW. Nor will it make any difference in you prospects.

Interviews by students (usually seniors) is a common practice on many college campuses, including top 20 schools. The students are often called “admissions interns”.

Fair point.
