<p>Today, I received a notice that I need to interview for Duke some time this week. This confuses me for two reasons:

  1. I didn’t apply before the interview date (Dec. 10)
  2. All my friends’ interviews and my other interviews were more than two weeks ago.</p>

<p>Is it unusual for me to have received this notification so late?

<p>Duke attempts to interview as many people as possible regardless of when they submitted their application. That deadline is simply to be guaranteed one. And no, it’s not that unusual. Your interviewer is probably just busy and procrastinated… this Friday is the last possible day for interviews.</p>

<p>Bluedog is right; in addition, Duke’s deadline for submission of the results from local alumni admission interviews was just extended by one week (to 22 February), due to the tremendous volume of 2017 applicants (almost 32K).</p>
