i know what you mean bmw but i dont think they weight it that much. im guessing that if you’re fighting for a spot- you (non-inverview) vs. applicant a (has been interviewed) they would try not to consider the interview. its just an additional thing I guess so don’t worry about it.

That’s most likely true, starburst. I just keep hearing all these kids say how great their interviews went, and I know I could do well in an interview and that I would also enjoy being able to talk to an alum. I guess it is not going to happen, and that’s fine. I’ll just have to trust my application…

my interview is most likely wed
yikes

just had my interview! it went well…but interestingly, his first question was

“So what other schools are you applying too”

hmmm…

I am still waiting for interview appt. Didnt get any email yet. However, I already got an appt for Harvard interview even though I didnt send my supplement yet.

What if you know who your interviewer is and still haven’t gotten an appointment? No one else from my area is applying, and the interviewer for my area has never done a Yale interview but is the mother of one of my close friends. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process?

I feel the same way… I reeaaallly reaallly want an interview. Everyone else from my school who applied who I’ve spoken to has gotten one…

Yeah, Harvard does theirs by the first part of the application so that they can set up a file or whatever for you. It’s not an all-in-one school.

Folks–Look at the RD Applicants: Interview Advice for answers to a lot of your questions.

I’ll try to address some posts. Selection for an interview is random only to a point. In my region, everyone gets an interview. In others, not everyone does. So it’s random based on which region you live in. In any event, there is not pre-screening for interviews.

There are no limits on how many students from a single high school interviewers can talk to.

Standardization of the interview process isn’t entirely possible although I agree that every region should adopt a first come first served policy. There just aren’t enough interviewers to make complete standardization possible.

Your interviewer will not have teacher recs, etc.

If the interviewer is the mother of one of your close friends, she should not conduct your interview. You’re not supposed to know your interviewer. How do you know this woman is your interviewer? Tell your ASC director to assign someone else.

As you’ll see on several other posts, call the admissions office and ask for your ASC director’s contact info and call that person to ask for an interview.

Finally, have you all been checking your email regularly? I send kids emails and then I hear back from them weeks later. Check the account you gave Yale regularly.

I dont actually know that she would be my interviewer. I’m just assuming because she lives nearby and does Yale interviews. The only reason I know is because her son told me that she became an interviewer this year. I live in an area where if I didn’t know she was an interviewer, I would assume we didn’t have any nearby. Either way, I haven’t been contacted for an interview at all yet so I don’t think its become an issue.

I have said this before and I will say it again - there are plenty of kids attending Yale who never had an interview. I understand your anxiety and your desire to have a chance to put your best foot forward, but try to relax. Most kids are going to do well in an interview, so it is unlikely that it plays much of a role in who gets in (and who does not).

Anyway, for those who get an interview, relax and show your enthusiasm. For those who do not, remember it probably will have little or no impact on the committee’s decision about you.

Hang in there!

Yaay got an interview! Or at least a call…

Hey! I finally got an interview. I was very glad to have one. I enjoyed it a lot, and I think my interviewer did too.

Well, it’s all out of my hands now. God be with us EA kids in the next three and a half weeks.

Yeah, seriously bmwdan. I am happy because I just got off the phone with my interviewer.

The interview is at his house and he sounded quite uncomfortable. Hope it goes well!

Can you guys post some questions that were asked?

Go to the RD Applicants: Interview Advice thread. Read all my posts and if you have further questions, post them on that thread. I’m trying to create the most comprehensive interview thread so all the info is in one place.
