my interviewer called to set up an interview and she was really mean on the phone, not pleasent at all. shes like, “well, i guess it would work out for me”, and then she groned. georgetown is already a huge reach for me and i’m afraid she’s just going to drill me on my low grades and act,

god, this is annoying now. she’s going to laugh at me after i leave.

I’m sure she was just having a bad day or something. Alumni interviewers do it because they like it. Just go in there confident. Make sure you have a few good, key points about yourself that you want to get across no matter what.

In the end, the interview cannot make or break your application; however, if after the interview you feel she was unnecessarily mean or critical, simply call up the admissions office and explain the situation. In that case, they would most likely discount the interview, if not set up a new one entirely. Chances are if you actually need to call the admissions office about her, they already know about her behavior with other students and your claims would therefore be substantiated.

However, hope for the best, and make sure you represent yourself positively!

If you are attracted to Georgetown, Holy Cross near Boston is very similar but easier to get into. The reason for the similarity is that the school was founded by the Georgetown Jesuits in 1843 and in fact during the first couple years of graduates received Georgetown degrees because Massachusetts was slow to grant a charter because of strong anti-Catholicism at that time in history. One difference is Holy Cross is strictly undergraduate so there are no grad students teaching. Small class sizes and lots of access to the professors. Many universites use grad students for teaching and access to full professors are extremely limited. Also at Holy Cross SAT scores are optional. Holy Cross is #33 on the US New and World Report Rankings for national liberal arts colleges.
