<p>In what form did you get the invitation? Did you get a mass-mailed brochure and cover letter? If yes, then probably nothing special, just based on your test scores. If you received a personal phone call or something of that nature, it might mean you are a particularly attractive candidate.</p>
<p>I don’t think Yale does special interviews. Besides, they wouldn’t have your credentials over the summer!</p>
<p>mocha–A high school junior could be on Yale’s radar because of standardized test scores (tons of people would get invites for a summer interview in this context), as a recruited athlete, or perhaps if the person did well in the Siemens or Intel competitions or similar.</p>
<p>i was e-mailed, but i don’t think it was a mass e-mail. they also had a special schedule set up for summer interviewees.</p>
<p>Anyone rising high school senior can interview in the summer, it’s not a special program. My bet is that you were identified by standardized test scores and that it was a mass email, although cleverly disguised to not seem like a mass email. As I wrote before, unless you’re on Yale’s radar as a recruited athlete, have won some national science award, or are otherwise a nationally known entity, you didn’t get the email because you’re a particularly attractive candidate.</p>
<p>Yeah I agree with Admissions Addict. And standardized test scores don’t set Yale applicants apart from each others…there are literally thousands of people with 700+ test scores who apply, many with 800s. Intel might have give you a boost if you won something. </p>
<p>I doubt a recruited athlete would get an email regarding summer interviews; my high school friends who were recruited at Yale were contacted by the coach and flown out for a tour of the school lol.</p>
<p>^correct, mochamaven. ncaa says students can’t be hosted on campus until after the first day of senior year, so summer interviews would not happen unless student initiated and paid for travel. All communication was with coach until likely letter which comes from admissions.</p>
