Interviews - A Double Edged Sword?

Hello, I’m an international student traveling to America to the summer to visit some colleges that are on my list. However, I have a fear - although I believe my application isn’t really bad, I fear that if I do bad on the interview, or just have a lukewarm average performance, it may hurt my chances of admission.

Is there truth to this?

Secondly, will the fact that I am traveling to the States negatively affect my chances of scholarships, especially if I make my visit known when I do an interview?

Thank you.

What’s a bad interview? One where you show lack of drive, curiosity, manners or intellect. Avoid these. Plus, it is the least important item in your application. They are mostly conversations and not meant to be pressure filled.

Most of the colleges you’re visiting do not give merit scholarships.

Just be polite and engaging, and you’ll be fine. An interview is good because no matter how it goes (unless you run out cursing or something) it shows that you are interested in the school.
