I live in Alabama and I don’t think I’ll be able to visit SLC before I submit my app. Do they do phone interviews? I really want to do an interview since my GPA isn’t so great and it couldn’t hurt.

college reps come to high schools and can also set up interviews in a public meeting place. Talk to your college counselor or email or call the admissions office at SLC and ask about how to contact the college rep for your area

As far as I know, SLC reps do not interview when they are visiting schools or during area information sessions. SLC does use their alumni for personal interviews as mentioned here on the SLC web site:
Regardless of what they say about not interviewing not counting against you in the process, if you are really interested in attending SLC, an interview is to your advantage. My D visited SLC before applying but did not interview. She was waiting-listed. It was only later in the process of transferring that SLC was able to see how sincere she was in her desire to attend, and she was accepted as a transfer. By all measure, she should have been accepted on the first pass, but I think the school decided she might not be seriously considering SLC over other “ranked” schools and passed her by. I would recommend contacting the school to arrange at least an alumni interview in your area if possible. It certainly can’t hurt!

I interviewed with a college rep at my school when he visited. The above statement is therefor not true.

;) How can it be “not true” when prefaced with “as far as I know”? Perhaps “incorrect” or “inaccurate” would be more appropriate.
Regardless, do an interview if you have the opportunity. If SLC doesn’t visit where you live or the rep isn’t an interviewer, do look into an alum interview. (Or is that statement also “not true”?)

I don’t know about alum interiews.

I doubt there are any alum in my area, but I emailed and asked. Awaiting a response.
