interviews

are interviews all required for graduate school admissions? if they are only required for specific schools would the public admin/public policy degrees of cornell, columbia, nyu, carnegie mellon require interviews? quite frankly i dont think i have the money to travel to all those universities if they do require interviews.

thanks

While i can’t speak directly to those schools, I have a friend who applied to lots of public policy schools last year and did NOT have to go to interviews.
It seems the reason is, those schools accept so many people, so it’s different than pairing with a professor and working in their lab for 4 years, in which case the professor or institution does interviews. In a public policy school setting, they have tons of people and accept more people, so they don’t do individual interviews.
That was the case when I applied to the UNC School of Public Health, which is similar I think to applying to an admin/policy school.

okay, thats a great relief. i appreciate the info.
