As New Englanders when we visit NYC we either drive to Stamford, CT and take the train from there or take Amtrak from Boston.

We are picking up a dear friend visiting from England at Newark early Sunday morning. We would like to spend Saturday in NYC which involves leaving after work Friday evning. We could stay in the Stamford area as usual, but since the Sunday flight is early, I think it would be easier to stay neaar the airport in NJ. I don’t know that staying in the city and paying a huge parking bill would be a good idea.

Since we know nothing about the area, where should we stay and how do you get into NYC from there?

There’s a stop at the Newark Airport for trains that will take you directly to Penn Station in Manhattan. On the www.amtrak DOT com site, the station code is EWR. You can get a schedule of trains and a map showing where the station is located in the airport on that site. There are also express buses that will take you into Manhattan.

Can’t help with the rest. (Note link won’t work, so don’t click.)

Wow I just never equated Jersey City with luxury anything! Is the ferry walking or driving distance from these hotels? I’m heading to Kayak now to check it out.
