Invited to A&M Prospective Student Mixer

I was recently invited to the DFW A&M Prospective Student Mixer. The invite said to be invited to this event, you had to be either in the top 10% of your class or top 25% of your class AND 1200 combined math and reading on SAT. My question is, how would A&M already know if i fall into one of these 2 categories if I had not submitted an application at the time of the invite?

My son has a 1430 combined score and received one as well but could not attend. We sent our scores to Texas A & M back in August, after we got his latest scores back in late July. So, if you had already sent your scores in, they had it on file or then may get the information from College Board. They may also get stuff from your school if you did not opt out of being contacted in all of that paperwork that is sent home the first few days of school.
