Anyone know anything about being invited to apply to schools?

I’m a current junior, and I submitted my SAT scores (which were decent but not outstanding, R: 640, M: 550, W: 630) to University of La Verne when I took it back in March. I just received an email the other day, which read:

I thought this was strange and interesting, because it does seem very form letter-esque, as if they’ve seen a low number of applications in recent years, but I also don’t feel like they’d say “very few” and not mean it, because that’d be lying, pretty much.

I also received a similar letter from the school today in the mail.

I’m taking it with a grain of salt, but it’d be nice to have an idea of if the invitation actually holds any meaning.

Any thoughts?
