DS and I are flying out over President’s Day weekend to visit 3 schools, Grinnell, Knox and Cornell. We are flying to Cedar Rapids and renting a car. I have hotel reservations for the first and last night, we start at Grinnell and finish in Mt. Vernon at Cornell College.

I am trying to figure out a hotel to stay at for the 2 nights in-between. Should we drive 1/2 way Friday from Grinnell to Knox, visit Knox on Saturday, drive back to hotel and drive Sunday to Mt. Vernon. Any suggestions for what city or town to do this in. Thanks.

Both Grinnell and Cornell could easily be done from a hotel in Cedar Rapids, so if you like the hotel you are in you could extend your stay there. Grinnell is about an hour from Cedar Rapids and it is an easy shot on I-80. Cornell is twenty minutes from Cedar Rapids. Knox is slightly further, but you could do it in a long day if you wanted to stay in Cedar Rapids the whole time. Can I ask where you are staying Cedar Rapids? Also, have you considered looking at Coe. It is right there in Cedar Rapids, it is an ACM school, and to be honest has a slightly higher academic profile than either Knox or Cornell, although it does not have the small town charm that those too have. It is worth a quick look though. They give good financial aid.

Lololu - Thank you, will look into Coe. Right now we are staying first night at a B & B in Grinnell and a hotel the last night in Mt. Vernon - no reservations for the middle two days. We have to go from Grinnell to Knox Friday night. Tour Knox Saturday, free day Sunday and then Cornell and flight home Monday. Really hoping for no snow.
