iPad vs. Amazon Fire

I thought there would have been a discussion on this previously, but I was not able to find one in the search. Our iPad is ancient and slow, but I guess does what we want it to do as long as you don’t mind waiting 5 minutes for it to turn on. My husband uses it when he travel, mostly to take to the gym so he can read on a larger screen than his iPhone. I was thinking we might replace the old iPad, and for the cost, the Fire HD 10 for $150 seems like it would be good for his needs. But, then I see the iPad at Target for $250, which is a nice price for something he already knows how to operate. While he can’t live without his laptop and iPhone, he hates technology, so having to learn how to operate a Fire would not make him happy, even if it is child’s play!

For those with a Fire and familiar with an iPad, what do you miss on the Fire that you have, or can do on the iPad? What does the Fire have that the iPad doesn’t? We do not need either of these, but I think we will buy one or the other anyway!

The biggest thing for me would be the gazillion apps in the Apple App Store…that are NOT available for the Amazon fire.

I’d go with that IPad!

I bought my mom a smaller Kindle Fire - it doesn’t hold a candle to an iPad.

We have both in our house. For fun apps we use the Ipad - games, news, etc. For basic internet (including streaming live TV via our cable provider) we use the new Fire (with a gorgeous large screen). Don’t read books on either device (like paper).

Here is a good review https://www.cnet.com/news/amazon-fire-hd-10-2017-review/
Bottomline: The new 10" Amazon Fire, a great value with Alexa.

Well, I wouldn’t buy Apple under any circumstances so I’d go Fire. But in fact I went for a Lenovo something something 10 inch tablet.
