Just a curious question- has anyone here tried using an iphone in Ithaca. No need to do the whole cell phone rant or to critic the phone. I am a senior (and a Verizon customer) so I am well aware of what works and what doesn’t. I would just like to know if you can get access to ATT data services in Ithaca.

Didn’t AT&T merge with Cingular? Cingular works fine there, so maybe it would work.

Verizon gets the best service in Ithaca, but I know people who have Cingular and they usually have service.

oh em gee…u have the iphone

so is it niiiice? lol

i have a stupid question
can you recharge it yourself? because i saw somewhere that you have to take it to the apple store and pay a fee everytime

I’m pretty sure that’s a lie, since the battery life is only a few hours.

thats what i was thinking… it had something to do with preventing theft

possibly getting a whole new battery requires the help of a store (vs. most standard phones today).

wouldn’t an iPhone be more likely to be stolen on the way to the store in public than on your bedroom desk charging?

if your battery malfunctions, here’s the story:

you have to send it in to apple. It will cost you $80 to have it replaced. You’ll be w/o your phone for a while. However, you can rent an iPhone for $30.

I’ll stick to my Blackberry.

i thought the OP said no bashing of the iPhone

a question came up and it was answered accordingly.

definately get a blackberry.

pradas coming out with a phone by lg. very similar to the iphone and paired with verizon.

It’s europe/japan release only… sorry folks… iphone should work fine in ithaca, get a blackberry, or get a vertu if you’re really ridiculous

well if AT&T (Cingular) does have good service in Ithaca, then i’ll probably swing by the apple store soon to pick one up…

my best friend was with me in ithaca and he has an iphone…he had perfect service and he also told me that if he didnt use any of the features except for the phone, the battery lasts about 3 days. so it is pretty intense.

it is a lot cooler and accurate (like the commercials) than i anticipated it being.

if you’re going to only use it for the phone features you might as well save your 500 dollars and get some discount phone that comes with a verizon plan

this is true, but if it lasts for 3 days just using the phone, then seriously, it only makes sense that it lasts WAY LONG ENOUGH to use it for everything else if you charge it everyday like a normal person does…

i wouldnt worry about battery life unless you are watching movies, searching the web, calling and texting and listening to music 24 7

and it’s an ipod.
