iPhone? Should I get the 6s or the 6s plus?

I have a iPhone 5 and the battery is going. I’ve been to the Apple Store and Verizon, I’ve tried to click off apps and have tried to figure out how to get the battery to last more than a half hour and it’s not working. The phone is 3 years old and has served me well. But I think I have to change.

I really can not decide if I want the 6 or 6 plus. I like the bigger size of the 6 plus but is it too big? I like to carry my phone when I run and have a waist pack to put it in. Other than that I don’t have too many other needs that I am too picky about.

I am going to get another iPhone, I like the one I have and don’t feel the need for another brand.

Also does anyone have any opinions about where to buy? I will not buy at Best Buy. Verizon does not have a 2 year contract phone anymore. The price per month from the Apple Store is $5 more than from the Verizon store but it includes insurance (apple care). Insurance from Verizon is $11/month, not going to do that. I think square trade is $99. I have a lifeproof case for the phone I have now and I will probably get another.

I have the 6 and I carry it (in my hand) when I run. My H has the 6+. I think it would be awkward to carry in my hand! That reason alone was enough for me NOT to get the 6+. I also didn’t want the extra size/weight in my purse. The 6 is perfect for me. I have terrible eyesight when reading but I was able to set the 6 on a larger font and that works pretty well.

I got the iPhone 6S a few weeks ago at Sam’s Club for Verizon and received a $250 Sam’s gift card (which I used toward buying an iPad Air 2 64GB which was $587, on sale for $437 - $250 = $187).

The 6+ is great for viewing pictures but I also thought it felt too big for my hand or pocket… I went with the 6 and have been happy.

I have the 6s because I thought the plus was too big to carry in my hand or pocket. My non tech savvy friend just got the 6s plus. I was very surprised because I associate the plus with tech savvy people. But she said she loves it because it’s easier for her to see. I will say when I held it, it felt quite a bit heavier than mine.

I just got the 6s yesterday. The screen is a good size. I am petite and I like to keep my phone in my back pocket sometimes. The plus would not work for me. I also tend to carry tiny purses almost like a wallet with a strap and the 6 fits the one I am carrying today great.

I’d go to the Apple store (or similar) and touch them and figure out how they feel in your hand and which ones YOU prefer. It’s really a matter of preference. If your hands are large, the plus isn’t that much larger. If your hands are smaller AND your pockets are smaller, you may find the plus to be an awkward size.

If you plan to read a lot on your phone, the plus is a bigger screen, of course. We have OnePlus One phones that are nearly the Plus size and plan to get a 6s rather than the plus because we like the smaller form factor for our smaller hands and pockets. S got the 6s as well. You also have to figure out how many GB–64 is commonly recommended as the smallest storage size that makes sense, since the operating system takes up quite a lot of memory, as will taking 3+ photos of most subjects…

Thanks, sounds like the consensus is the 6s. I am a petite person with small hands.

Definitely getting the 64g. I have a 16 now and it’s too small. I never thought I would say that. 16g sounds like so much but it’s not.

Yes, even S (who is quite frugal) splurged on the 64gb because he doesn’t want to run out of room. He is happy with his 6s, but he did drop it and cracked the screen (tho it is still usable). He’s trying to make a warranty with Discover, which is the card he used to purchase the phone and will see how it goes. It’s the first screen that has cracked among all 4 of us over the years, so that’s pretty good, IMHO. We were surprised it cracked, as we were told it was made stronger, etc.

I’ve had the 6 for about 6 months. I like it - the plus just felt too big.

I like the size of the 6- the 6+ was just too big and did not fit into the inside pocket of my purse intended for phones- the 6 fits perfectly.

Just in case you don’t know about this, that vintage of iPhone 5’s have battery problems - we took D’s (purchased in Dec 2012) last week to get a new battery after it completely died. They replaced the battery free of charge while we waited and she is thrilled since it now charges and holds charge for a reasonable time.

I know people with the 6 plus. They look like they are holding an iPad mini to their ears.

Do you have a tablet or will you use your phone a lot for web surfing, email, etc.? I have the 6 and an iPad. If I didn’t have a tablet I might have strongly considered the larger phone.

The Apple Store said that they would do a battery test and see if the battery is a problem. I thought when they had the recall on the 5’s I checked and my phone was not part of the recall but it’s worth checking again.

My H got the 6s plus today as his new work phone. He loves the bigger size. It is big.
