iPOD Stupidity

So, I go to the gym this morning with my iPOD; I’m all happy; it’s Saturday morning, the weather is some of my favorite (rainy days actually energize me for some reason), I get to play for three whole days; I get to the treadmill, looking forward to an hour or so with my favorite music, and, my iPOD won’t work. It won’t turn on; I try everything, nothing works, and I’m really upset because I was sure it was fully charged or at least mostly charged…so, I’m disappointed but soldier through the workout anyway with no music except for that horrible yucky stuff the gym plays, and drive home wondering when I am going to be able to listen to my music again - I’m imagining mailing off my iPOD somewhere and waiting months to get it back…I’m thinking maybe I’m better off just buying a new one, that way I can have my music in the gym right away…

So I get home, connect it to my laptop, and, try everything - nothing works - finally opted to restore it to original condition, then loaded all my music back on it - and it still won’t work, somehow it gets stuck on languages…

Finally, I go to the support section on Apple, and start to follow the instructions for iPOD problems - the first option tells you to move the HOLD button for 30 seconds -

I locate and move the HOLD button, and suddenly my iPOD operates perfectly. It had been on HOLD this entire time - I didn’t even know it HAD such a function, and, I never wear reading glasses and use my iPOD at the same time, so, I never would have noticed it by accident…oh well this is what happens when you’re over 40 and cannot see small things without glasses any more…

I feel soooooo stooooopit.

My iPod sort of makes me crazy – it freezes a lot and I have to hold down two thingees to get it to restart. I sort of hate it.

Ensure you have updated it with new firmware.

ROFL LTS!! Look at it THIS way…“stooooopit” beats a lengthy and/or expensive repair! ;)

Glad ya got it workin’!!! :)

~b.

What’s firmware?

I couldn’t get my Nano to work the other day. It turns out it has this little on-off slider switch.

Mathmom, ROTFL so hard, that’s the HOLD button you discovered lolololol

I had a similar frustrating experience with my iPod at the gym. I had charged it overnight, happily off to the gym, and looking very forward to drowning out that horrible crap they play at the gym (what is that?). Turn on the pod, all lights on, set it up, put on the headphones and…nothing. I turned it off, and started all over…nothing. Although it shows by a moving bar that the machine is playing…nothing. No sound. Not a peep. Damn. I turned it off, thinking I’ll do my workout then head to the Apple store for help. As I begin my workout I got whacked in the face with none other than my UNplugged headphone jack.

Ummmm, yeah. I suppose plugging in the headphones would provide sound.

I get it latetoschool, I totally get it.

Are you serious? :)

When you connect to iTunes with your iPod iTunes will ask if you want to “update” your iPod. Typically these updates are all about bug fixes which lend to functionality and stability of your iPod.
