IQ should be used to weight voters

For example, the vote of someone with a 100 IQ counts as 1 vote, while the vote of someone with a 140 IQ counts as 1.4 votes.

That is ridiculous.

“For example, the vote of someone with a 100 IQ counts as 1 vote, while the vote of someone with a 100 IQ counts as 1.4 votes.”

I caught it before you edited

…that doesnt make sense…ppl with high iq’s can still be uneducated or something

Oh now THERE’S a way to be elitist about things…

starwarskid, sorry you are upset about the election results
can i give you an e-hug?

HAHAHAHAHAA damn this is stupid

Oh crap I smell an upcoming flame war.

While I see the logic behind your idea (that decisions should be made by intelligent people), there are quite a few problems. IQ tests are not fair, and never can be, plus even if they were, being more intelligent does not necessarily mean someone knows the issues better. Plus, even if the tests were fair, there would ALWAYS be groups to claim it wasn’t, and these groups would protest loudly.

If nothing else, can you imagine how much it would cost to give an IQ test to every voter in the nation? Not the mention the cost of all the security measures that would need to be put in place to ensure no one took a bigger vote than they deserve.

Barring details (and there are a lot of them), there is a fundamental problem. That problem lies in the nature of power- people in power tend to do good for themselves. If there is any particular minority with greater power, it is inevitable that they will act in their own interest, even at the expense of others. NO minority, whether racial, economic, or intellectual, can be allowed greater power per capita, because this can only lead to oppression.

I don’t want to call you elitist, because I suspect you are thinking in terms of the best interest of the country, and indeed even three years ago I might have said similar things (and did). But the idea, and all like it, are truly absurd, if you think them through.

“For example, the vote of someone with a 100 IQ counts as 1 vote, while the vote of someone with a 100 IQ counts as 1.4 votes.”

dude, it’s called a typo. get over yourself.

or how about:

women can’t vote.

^^^^^haha true that

all people are equal and should be given the same amount of vote. however, i am upset about how the election turned out.

Those would give very similar results. There are about as many Republicans with high IQ’s than there are Democrats with high IQ’s, just as there are equal numbers of both with low IQ’s. It’d balance out in the end.

how 'bout we stop spending money on defense and “No Child Left Behind” and “Abstinence Education” stuff that will never work? That way, maybe we can educate the country using unbiased information, and let them make their own informed opinions, rather than doing what Karl Rove and the Fox News Channel tells them.

Oops. That was sort of liberal, my bad.

no not at all… grins =)

i have yet to meet a republican with good reasons why Bush should rule for another four dreadful years. before i get carried away i will close my mouth.

“dude, it’s called a typo. get over yourself.”

you know why I did that

…because you’re an ass?

That was funny. I actually laughed out loud.

and I guess you’ve just sunk to my level now

no, not really. im pointing out the obvious while you’re trying way too hard to burn first the op and now me. good luck with that.
