I am currently in the midst of applying to the following schools:

GTown
GWU - Elliot School
American - SIS

These are my first 3 choices - I dont expect to get into GTown but am crossing my fingers for GWU and American b/c id really love to be in DC. Im also thinking of safety schools now and have submitted an application to Syracuse-Maxwell, and Monterey.

I have not submitted to tons of other schools because I had this fear that I would be stuck with alot of loans without great employment opportunities to pay them off. Can anyone shed some light on the situation of lesser tier IR schools and whether these programs are worth looking into? Should I be applying to Denver (which I now see is ranked much higher that Monterey), Seton Hall’s Whitehead school, Penn State etc? - or are these schools not worth the $$ investment?

On another note - Im thinking about certain options if I dont get into a school in DC. Would military officer be a good option for a college graduate interested in IR/Natl Security issues? And if so, what branch/MOS?
