Ireland in March?

Hello, CC parents! My friends and I are trying to figure out spring break plans, and we’ve set our sights on Dublin. I was wondering if any of you might have experience with staying in Ireland in mid to late March. Our spring break happens to include St. Patrick’s Day, so how hard would it be to get accommodations (especially at a hostel) during that time? Also, what’s the weather like? Finally, how much do you think a week’s stay in Dublin would cost for a college student if she stayed in a hostel? If anyone would like to share experiences/traveling tips, that would be much appreciated as well!

My daughter was in Dublin during St. Patrick’s Day last year and had a blast. The hostels do fill up, but you should be able to find one with availability. The best site to use is Hostel World- [Hostels & Youth Hostels Worldwide - Online Bookings](http://www.hostelworld.com/) It did rain almost every day she was there, but it didn’t keep her from having a good time.

If you need information about the city itself and what to do, I can check with my daughter. I would think you wouldn’t need an entire week in Dublin and could do some traveling in nearby areas also. Your biggest hurdle might be getting cheap airfare at this late date. Check Aer Lingus and see what they are offering for that week.

We just got a great package deal on Aer Lingus for early March, but I did notice that the cost increased during the month. Make your reservations soon.

I’ve visited before in February…some days were sunny, some needed heavy coat and scarf, especially at Cliffs of Mohr. Just have your layers ready, anticipate gray and rainy, and be pleasantly surprised!

Generally cold and wet, but St.Pat’s day will be a blast !

Top o’ the mornin’ to ya !
