<p>if parent number one (wife) files fasfa with the child will the IRS Data Retrieval Tool work if the father parent #2 is the primary on the IRS tax filing each year? Files: married 1040.</p>

<p>I was told any parent can sign the fasfa. </p>

<p>Yes - that was our exact situation. If I remember correctly, the Data Retrieval tool asked which parent I was when I signed in to use it. I signed the FAFSA and DH is the first one listed on the 1040.</p>
