I’ve been accepted into a college under their computer engineering program, which I’d assume require coding and using CAD. Is 13.3 inches too small for a laptop? I’m going to be using it for everything, which will include classwork, gaming, and other entertainment. I found a laptop with a 15.6-inch screen that is actually lighter than the 13.3-inch laptop that I’m currently considering, so if weight isn’t an issue, which screen size would best fulfill my needs?

If you’re going to game and use CAD, I think 15.6" would make more sense.

I’m happy with a 14" machine - smack in the middle of those. I would go to a store and try out some 15" and 13" laptops and try them out to see which is more comfortable. Also, even if the 15" you’re looking at is lighter, it’s still bigger in 2 of 3 dimensions. You could also consider getting an external monitor to attach when you want to do more visual stuff like CAD. But I don’t think coding on a 13" screen would be a problem.
Actually, what I have found to have a bigger impact that dimensions is resolution. I went from a 17" laptop to a 14" one with the same resolution but didn’t feel like I had gone to a smaller size at all.
