IS 1700 ON YOUR FIRST SAT'S bad?

or just don’t drink so much
or don’t drink at all. =]

well if he didnt study at all, 1700 isnt too bad
just improve next time and study
and he should stop drinking. bad underage

This might be a dumb question but what schools are considered to be the Ivy League schools other than the obvious ones such as Harvard, Yale, and Brown? Would any of the North Carolina colleges be thought of as Ivy Leage schools? Thanks for your input.

i got 1880 on my first practice test and 2150 on my real sat… u get better through practice

Ivy league schools are 8 specific schools in the Northeast of the US… they are not necassarily the best schools, they are just very old and prestigious… they are:

Harvard
Yale
Princeton
UPenn
Columbia
Cornell
Dartmouth
Brown

The last 3 are generally thought of as the worst ones… schools like Stanford, MIT and Duke are as good or better then the top 3.

Karan…that is an awesome improvement! How long did you wait before retaking the SAT and did you take a prep course beforehand? I thought that most people that took it more than once only saw a minimal jump in their score.

I got 1570 on first test early 2006. (57 percentile)

216 on PSAT. (99 percentile)

sats are overated lol, i didnt do well in my own standards, but there are many opportunities to goto school for free, but the kid schools are really tough to FINANCE, get into will not be a cake walk (but he will get in), but paying for them is the hardest part, apply to some schools that have average sats, 1000-1100 (math and verbal) and acceptence rate with 70% or higher, guranteed will get you more money, it doesnt matter where u go for undergrad, it does for when you goto graduate school

ineedhelp I assume your ‘friend’ is yourself. If you’re applying to most colleges a 1700 is an ok score, but for any higher-level (ivies, high UCs, tech schools, etc) that score will drag your application down.

Lacerprecision…that’s funny cause you’re probably right that his friend is really him and that’s ok ineedhelp, you just need to hold off on the celebrating and drinking until AFTER you take the test and it might make a huge difference.
